Mr. Kendrick, I too have encountered this issue.  Unfortunately, I haven't 
discovered any work around nor cause for the problem.  And frankly, it 
pales in comparison to the other issues I have with Acrobat 6 Pro, namely, 
the lack of relative linking, an apparent 60 character limit in the 
bookmarks, and having to know the exact page page in a document to reset a 
link to.

If you do discover a reason or work around to your link problem, please 
post it as at least one person will be interested in the solution.
