Title: Protecting Published PDFs
Background:
We are a market research company that publishes reports and sells them in PDF format. Currently, they are produced in Quark (Mac-based) and then functionality is added in Acrobat. We have found that clients are passing these reports on to one another after purchase despite our licensing terms. I have done some research in PDF security and DRM but I need recommendations from professionals who have experience with document security and use it on a day-to-day basis.

Questions:
1. Since these reports are products for sale, should I consider and treat them like e-books?

2. If yes, what resources will clearly explain security issues for e-books without overwhelming me with technical terms? (I have already visited planetebook.com)

3. If not, what are some effective ways to protect our documents from being passed on to those who didnt purchase them? Im looking for your personal experiences and how security software fits into your workflow.

4. In my research I found products by Authentica and FileOpen Systems. Has anyone had experience with their products? Any experience with Adobe Content Server?

5. Last one Can anyone recommend a consultant in the Washington DC metro area that we could talk to about these issues?

Thank you in advance for your assistance.
