Hello, Everyone.

Apologies for the fact that this quesion might be a no-brainer, but it is important
for me to be sure. Actually, I have three related questions, and perhaps only the
first one is a no-brainer:

1) Are huge PDFs easily manageable? I am preparing a document which will probably be
huge, since it will have LOTS of video clips in it. If a user wants to access such a
file either over the web or off a CD, does Acro Reader know enough to automatically
load only the right-sized piece it at first (based on the size of the user's RAM, for
example)?

2) If I were to write a series of articles, each in a separate PDF and each with its
own title, would I be able later to combine them into a one big book, just by minor
editing in each one (e.g. changing each title to 'Chapter 1, Chapter 2, etc.', and
have the page numbering adjust automatically or with a single command?

3) Extending the idea in my question 2) a bit further, could that approach solve the
biggest problem I have had with this project, namely: (a) Since Acrobat is not an
authoring app, that part must be done elsewhere, such as in MS Word; (b) I want
Acrobat media clips since they are so much cooler than hyperlinks; the closest thing
in MS Word is embedded objects, but these don't convert to Acrobat; (c) this document
is likely to be edited again and again based on comments by colleagues and reviewers.
The upshot is that I would be in danger of having to re-build literally hundreds of
media clips every time I edit the document.

But suppose I perpare separate Word docs for each video clip and its associated
commentary, and maybe also for various other subsections of the document. Or a master
document with markers of some kind (but what kind?) indicating locations into which
the various examples should be inserted, convert them to PDFs, and then assemble them
all somehow into one big PDF? That way, when the necessary edit applies to only one
example and its associated commentary, say, I would only have to re-do the PDF for
that one piece and then re-assemble the whole.

Is that feasibe in Acrobat?

Thanks,

Peyton Todd
