I have the option active, but the problem is that the pdf's are then stored in a temporary path where a regual user can not find it afterwards.

Dont worry you are not alone, I have also the same issue as you, I have been on the Apple Panther forum which did not solve the issue, plus many other users are seeing the same problem. I have not found a way yet to get the PDF Workflow option in the domain tab to become live, and I have not found any one else yet how can.
