Simple fixes. 1. Try PostScripting it, rather than saving as an EPS. 2. Print to PS, and print a composite gray PDF. There are more elaborate fixes, like chasing down the offending glitch in the file, but number two should fix the problem quickly. I made a PDF of the Quark file (first saving an eps, then distilling it) and emailed it to a quick printer. The printer called and said when plates were made, a color plate was showing up. The Quark file as well as the PDF file show black and white only on my monitor as well as the printer's monitor. The original 4 year old file was black and while only. I ended up throwing the PDF file into Photoshop and making certain it was black and white.
