Issue one: different versions of Reader and AB. This makes sense.
Issue two: with Windows XP I can control which application opens PDFs through TOOLS > FOLDER OPTIONS > FILE TYPES.

I'd have to question this one. I don't know that it isn't possible, however I've yet to make it work. Even though I specifically change the file type association to point to the reader, it always opens a file in full acrobat when I double click, unless the reader happens to already be open. Prior to 6 I was able to control this without issue. Perhaps you could confirm this and show me the error of my ways. PLEASE! :) I really prefer to deal with most of my operation is the reader simply for load time, but haven't figured out how as yet.
