We have a solution that seems to work for us. All of our source docs are
xml. We use xsl-t
to create a second 'product specific xml doc, which we import into
Advent's 3B2 software to format the doc for print. A final pdf is
produced directly from 3B2.
Hope this helps

Are you using XML as the medium for your content or for
workflow
information?

Are you using a custom grammar or a standard one?

Depending on your situation, there are numerous approaches to
the
problem - though most will involve either the application of a
"stylesheet"
(via XSL:FO) and/or the use of XSL-T to transform from your XML to
another
XML with styling/layout information...

Define ALL of your requirements up front - you know some of
them
(table support, formula support, etc.), but do you know them all.

Then go looking at products, and see which one(s) match your
requirements.

And also consider how you will use them to go from one grammar
to
another...
