> what exactly is FDF?
An FDF file is a file designed to fill out a PDF form. PDF forms can submit
in this format as well as be opened with it.
In addition to name/value pairs for fields, you can also set field flags,
appearances, and behavior (script).
Here's a minimalist example of an FDF:

Not much to it. This format is based on the PDF format... crack a PDF open
in a text editor and you'll see a lot of the above, plus some random binary
gobbledegook (compressed data usually).
