Actually one of our internet developers here today discovered that if he
displays the PDF in a frame using <iframe> instead of <embed>, it works just
fine, so we are all set.

         I'm surprised it even comes up at all.

         Mail in Reader has never been fully supported, and in fact, in
older versions of Reader (4.x & 5.x) it definitely doesn't work in either
mode.
