The adobe javascript guide refers to embedded files as "data objects",
and
you and add and remove them dynamically.  There are a number of
document-level methods supporting them, including "createDataObject" and
"importDataObject".

To do the "run once" thing, we end up creating a PageOpen event and
having
it test a global variable to see if that particular script needs to be
run.
JS compatibility across multible version of acrobat can force you to do
some
strange things.
