Up until now we have been merging and inserting the bookmarks manually. It gets tedious as the size of the files grow. We hope to do everything automatically.

Does anyone know any pdf library for editing existing pdf files under Unix? (Basically it should support merging, searching by text or font size, adding bookmarks, etc)
What Unix platform? What programming language?
