Fred,

You may want to check out the PDFPrint plug-in from activePDF:

or get them in a plug in?

Help!

I'm new to the .pdf world (about 2 days in). I've read the forum's on
PDFZone and PlanetPDF searching for solutions to my problems. I've found
some fringe things, but no specifics. So if I missed it, I apologize and
just link it for me. Anyway, here's my problem.

I need to provide browser-based printing of a .pdf file that is
delivered from the webserver. I would prefer to avoid active content
such as applet, activeX, etc. There are a couple of requirements that I
must satisfy that I have questions about.

1. The user (client side) cannot see the .pdf file. I want it to go
straight to the printer. So printing needs to be done silently (I'm
hoping I'm using the term silent properly). Can I have a plug-in take
the file and NOT display it to the user and send it straight to the
printer?
2. The .pdf document can be printed once and only once. So that may need
controlled from the plug-in as well. Is that possible?
3. The user cannot determine what printer the file goes to - that needs
to come from the server and be embedded in the .pdf. Can I have a
plug-in extract the printer destination out of the .pdf file?
4. Is there a plug-in that anyone knows of that does this? Am I better
of writing one and is that possible? I'm in the process of joining the
Adobe Developer program so I can investigate their sdk's to see if it's
possible.

Thanks for your comments and recommendations in advance!

Fred
