The PDF 1.5 specification indicates that form fields can be stored in a hierarchy. I've been attempting to construct such a hierarchy, but it does not seem the work. Does anyone know for a fact that Acrobat supports this feature of the PDF specification?
If my field dictionaries are referenced directly from the interactive form dictionary's Fields array, they work fine. However the following hierarchy is not working (edited for brevity):
1 0 obj << /AcroForm 5 0 R /Pages 2 0 R /Type /Catalog >> endobj
5 0 obj << /Fields [ 6 0 R ... ] >> endobj
6 0 obj << /Kids [ 7 0 R ... ] /Parent 5 0 R >> endobj
7 0 obj << FT /Btn /Ff 65536 /MK << /BC [ 0.000000 0.000000 1.000000 ] /TP 1 >> /Parent 6 0 R /Rect [ 1 1 99 99 ] /Subtype /Widget /T (00000-00000) /Type /Annot >> endobj
