Like many visually obvious things in PDF, there are no special concepts for these. You have to think about what graphical operations lead to the visual result. > 1. how to get the background color of text ? There is no such concept in PDF. There may be an object earlier on the page that overlaps text. If there is, you can say that is the text's background. To do this in the general case, allowing for partial overlaps, non-rectangular shapes, and clipping is a very complex exercise of path manipulation. > 2. how to know that text is underlined. Again, no such concept. An underline is just a line (or sometimes a thin rectangle) which happens to be below some text. It may be earlier or later in the page.
