Please take my words with reserve because I am not the one who is behind
the gui architecture and implementation. But AFAICS findText and
highlightingSelectedText script functions can help a bit to accomplish
this task. 
The first one searches and selects all text operators which contain the
searched text. You will get the number of them. Then you can iterate
through them (like in the second function) and do whatever you like
(delete, change, ...).
Please note that this can be tricky because one text operator can
contain more than just searched text (in fact it can be whole line). 
I am not sure how this would work if a searched text is split in several
operators.
