Much has been said about film/digital lately.
Last week on public radio I heard part of a discussion about what is going
to happen to people who have gone digital only, more or less. Will some
small computer castastrophy whipe out a whole family set of pictures: will
on computer crash be equivalent to someones home burning (my words not theirs).
People think putting stuff on floppy and CD are suffient backups, but will
todays medium be like an 8 track tape 15 years from now?
With people upgrading computers almost every 3 years, 15 years will be 4 or
5 upgrades, will floppy and cd still be around.
What the point of the story was, people will soon figure out they'll want
HARD COPY!
So photoprinters and supplies will maybe be where people in the film
industry make some money on the digital market.
