Pentax filters are fairly difficult to find in the shops here in the US as well, and
they do not seem top be standard stock items at many of the mail order places either.
Pentax filters occasionally appear on KEH. Usually it is the basic UV or skylights,
non-SMC in 49 or 52mm thread. I've picked up a few of these skylights to use,
generally for about $5 a piece. However, the SMC versions come along every now and
then, you just have to keep looking. I managed to get two SMC filters about tow weeks
ago, both skylights, one in 49mm and the other in 72mm, for a grand total of $25.95
with standard ground shipping. Though, shipping the to the UK may cost more than the
price of a filter.......
