Why do they belong in a different forum?

The beauty of this list is that there are a group of people that have a few
things in common, namely photography, Pentax equipment, and .. um .. other
things. If items allowed on this list were to be solely based on Pentax
equipment, I'd imagine the list would die an agonising death pretty
quickly, and in the meantime would become a very sterile place.

I have come to appreciate the knowledge that many of the posters here are
willing to share, on many things, photographic or otherwise. The
experiences of many people have been shared about, hopefully to the benefit
of many others.

Another thing that bothers me is that some would like to see the discussion
of third party lenses to be put off the list. For those of us that don't
live in the USA, third party lenses usually become a way of life. The cost
of original Pentax equipment is out of reach of a lot of people, and the
reputations of some of the third party manufacturers is sometimes a tad
suspect. Advice about them, from people here is always appreciated.

Just so you know what I am up against, an FA 200mm 1:2.8 can be bought from
KEH for about USD960. Converted to AUD that is about AUD1700. The same lens
here is about $3500. An FA 50mm 1:1.4 can be bought in the US for about
USD179 (AUD 330), here it is about $700. And so it goes on. The cost of the
third party lenses are almost in line with their cost in the USA, and about
half the price of the Pentax equivalent. Camera bodies are also roughly the
same price here as in the US.

Cheers

Jon

There's an AK47 on the dashboard and mercy just left town.
