Cartier-Bresson is well-known for giving interviewers a very hard
time, and for not suffering fools gladly. He is also reported to dislike
the English-speaking peoples and in particular to despise American
culture. You can see this come through quite clearly in his
photographs of the English and the Americans. It's no surprise that he
gave Charlie Rose a hard time, especially if, as seems to be the case,
Charlie Rose does not have sufficient background to conduct a serious
interview.
