Being one of the few who have actually own both, I can share some opinions.
1. Both are very well made. The 77 is more luxurious but the FA* 85 is probably more
heavy duty overall.
2. Manual focus is great on both lenses. The FA* 85 has the clutch mecanism however.
3. The 77 is much handier and much smaller and lighter. The FA* 85 is huge;
particularly with the hood.
4. None of them are any good wide open. They reach same performance level at F:8. From
F:4 to F:8 the 77 Limited is the best performer.
5. Both have nice Bokeh but 77 Limited offer that special 3D effect.
Unless you plan to shoot wide open and need that 1.4 aperture, I'll recommend the 77
Limited over the 85/1.4 not at least due to weight and size issues.
