Silver?

Yesterday I discussed with a friend about films. He stated T-grain flims are
based on dyes and don't use silver to react to the light. I said it's not true.
AFAIK all films, including color ones, uses silver halures to react to the
light, regardless if they use dyes also or not.
 I'm wrong?
