Hi Todd,

The Contax/Yashica MF bayonet mount is now a legacy system, they are
not developing any more lenses for this mount however they indicated that
they will provide continuing support. As such I am gradually selling my CZ
glass and Contax bodies as I have no interest in migrating to their new
mount. I would rather put up with Pentax indecision than move to a new
mount.

The AX still is the best solution for Contax users who have a number of
excellent CZ manual focus lenses to enjoy the benefit of AF when required.
The only problem with the system was that in order to get the best
performance out of the lenses with floating elements they needed to be pre-
focused. I had one for a while and it was a nice camera, granted it was wide
but I have small hands and could cope quite well whereas the ultra-
ergonomic Leica R8 SLR I had no chance of holding comfortably.

Another small but positive function was that the body focus mech could be
locked at 10mm in order to provide an effective tube for macro work.

One benefit of the new system is that since the new AF technology is
offspring of the Contax 645 SLR they have indicated that there will be an
adaptor so that the 645 lenses can be used on the new 35mm body. There
are no mechanical couplings between these new lenses and the body all
interconnection is electronic.
