Have you tried using SLR lenses to focus a circle of light? My Sears lens
at 200mm focuses a cicle of light about the size of a US Dime with about 4"
to work with. If you put the lens backwards I get a fainter circle about
the size of a nickel. I haven't tried other lenses but my guess is
telephotos will give you a larger circle and more area to work with.
