Hi Skip,
I have the Sigma 28-105/2.8-4 and use it on my PZ-1 and sometimes on
ME-super.
I'm satisfied about the lens. I did no extensive lens tests, but several
nice pictures at about A3 size prove that the lens is capable of very sharp
pictures. I bought it mainly for "reporting" type of photography like,
parties, weddings, nearby soccer games. On business trips I take this lens
on my PZ-1 with a ME-super and pancake lens as back-ups. It is quite easy in
the manual focussing mode.
The max aperture I only use in dim light conditions, I donot know if the
lens is sharp in that condition, but in that case the sharpness is limited
by camara shake with my type of photography.
The autofocus behaviour together with my P-1 is very fast and accurate. I
prefer the spot AF of the P-1 over multi field AF of other camera's.
The only negative point that I encountered, is that with the light source
(the sun!)in the scene, you see three till five times the aperture blades in
the picture. Of course you can expect this with such a big front glass and
so many pieces of glass inside. In this respect you can never beat a not too
fast 50 or 28MM prime with SMC.
By the way: In "Foto Magazin" a German magazin, it was rated "very good".
About the price: I paid about 200 USD in Singapore.

Jos from Holland.
