Britain. I recently spent some time 'between contracts' which gave me
a chance to catch up on my daytime TV viewing and I was rather
surprised at the number of hill-billy look-alike audience
participation shows hosted by Ros!, Trisha! or Ricki! with subtitles
like "He won't marry me 'cos I'ze a virgin. He says if I ain't good 'nuff
fer ma brothers, I ain't good 'nuff fer him". The purpose of the shows seems
to be to demonstrate the highest degree of bad manners, to reveal secrets
best kept hidden in the darkest closets, to shout at each other and
finally to destroy the set in a huge brawl, preferably between women.
Bit like PDML in some ways :o)
A trip to some parts of Britain reveals a land that is almost
indistinguishable in some ways from the back country of North
Carolina, and where the scattered villages are populated by people who
all look identical and share no more than 3 surnames between 20
families.
