I do not intend to get into a "I was poorer than you" contest.
But while I was trying to go to school and raise a family (years before
school loans), I worked two jobs, one of them busing dishes for 45 cents an
hour, the other got me 62 cents and hour. Between me and the wife, we had
four jobs making about $4 an hour between us. We were rasing two children.
After school, while I interned, I made $60 a week, the two of us making about
$115 a week with 3 children.
I've been there, done that.
Me, "self-righteous" Tom? Call me "bootstrapper" instead, someone who crawled
up and out of poverty.
