I can't believe I started this thread with a post about the Japanese camera
industry and the relative importance of American consumers' tastes to its
health. 

Almost nothing in the present discussion has anything to do with camera
consumption or with any of the points I raised in my initial posts. The
posts many people are making are simply arguments over facts. I've always
found that absurd. Fact is not a matter of opinion, of one person's feeling
about some matter vs. another's. Facts are a matter of research and record.
You dig to find the best sources of fact, evaluate the probability of their
veracity, and make your claims. All anybody is doing in this thread is
tossing little factoid grenades back and forth because nobody wants to do
any research to support claims each thinks is self-evident, in order to
dispute opposing claims which others think are self-evident.

I don't see what any of this has to do with Pentaxes. I realize it's too
late for me too withdraw my initial post, but I certainly wish I could.
