        I wouldn't necessarily agree w/ that, myself.  The F has a
        "worthiness", ala the LX, which makes a "tune-up service" be
        sort of considered into the cost. I got one about 4yrs ago from
        a store that had it on consignment and a $139 CLA invested in it.
        I got it for $179 - good as new.

        And the F also has a bridge in the metering circuit that deals
        w/ the 1.35v Hg battery to 1.5v replacement alkalines. I have
        one Hg cell still in reserve, so I haven't used them yet.

        All the K-mounts followed the F using open-aperture metering,
        so in a sense, it functions much more like our current ones than
        a jump back to stopdown metering - even with the auto-stopdown
        which all the Soptmatics and pre-spots had. I suspect many of us
        are "accustomed" to open-aperture metering as a given.
