I used to think so. The 58mm Helios that came with Zenit
cameras was for me better than the 50mm lenses of contemporary's
cameras. It just seemed to "fit" my view better. As I became
more experienced, wealthier and in possession of further lenses,
I found that my eye adapted to what I had and I began to "see"
differently.
Now I can go from 16mm to about 800mm, and I "see" so much I
hardly take any pictures!
