This, as a general advice, is not a good guideline.
Rather, make sure that you quote enough to make your own message understandable, be it
one or sixty lines.

In my responses, the quotes of a previous message are included in order to
(hopefully)clarify/explain what I am talking about, not just to remind.

Sometimes quoting more is being more considerate than quoting just a little.
And please indicate the name of the poster of the message that you are responding to.
This makes it possible to go back and find the original message when needed.
I receive the messages as individual messages. Obviously, what may be easier for the
digest reader is not necessarily easier for the one receiving the messages as separate
email messages.
