We go to the library quite often and I always go straight for the photography
section. I've already read most of the good stuff they have. I currently have
two books out - the first is a book full of very impressive landscapes by
various photographers (but annoying comments by the author). The other
book is about large format since I'm toying with the idea of getting a 4x5.

I also browse through various magazines when waiting for my partner to
make her choices, but I rarely borrow the magazines.

I use the 'net for technical information (like lens characteristics, body
features, etc), and experience for anything related to actually taking a decent
photo. I use the books as a source of inspiration, and for pointers on
technique.

I tend to take compositional "rules" with a big grain of salt. They really
should be referred to as "recommendations" or "guidelines" IMO, not
something which _must_ be religiously applied to every picture you take as
the word "rule" implies.

Cheers,
