Sorry to read this, Glenn. You picked the right place to vent,
because several of us can identify with what you're feeling and
facing. I guess you can take some comfort in that you were not
=completely= wiped out. When I was, it left me feeling lost, knowing
that I simply could not capture any photographs I saw.

>I have no zoom lenses.
>
>Neither do I have a burglar alarm.
>
>The %*$&ing burglars stole the _alarm_. Ripped it right off the wall.
>And took the camera bag. Left behind all the camera bodies, which
>happened to have not been in the bag at the time, but took all my
>zooms, most of my flashes, a bunch of accessories, and about $70
>worth of film. They went upstairs and grabbed the M 50/4 macro
>off the bed. They _broke_ my 24mm lens (glass looks okay, but it's
>pretty difficult to focus now).
>
>It was a pretty strange pattern -- they bypassed a bunch of stuff
>right next to the things they took, but they took the time to go
>all the way to the 3rd floor looking for things. Took my TENS
>unit, a drill, an Ethernet hub, my old cell phone (which I was using
>to charge spare batteries for my new one) ...
>
>And they took my goddamn _tools_: my lenses, filters, flashes, etc.
>
>Fortunately they left the bodies and all the screwmount gear, and I've
>still got one AF280T left. And they didn't touch any of the musical
>instruments, thank God. (They got my music backpack with my tuner,
>a book of music for one of my bands, and some transformers... I guess
>because it was backpack-shaped.)
>
>And the alarm company never did call me like they're supposed to
>when the alarm goes off.
>
>
>I really don't have much of a point in posting this -- I mostly
>just wanted to be able to vent to people who I know will understand
>just how upset I am about having camera gear stolen.
>
>Of course, I was planning to use a bunch of those lenses on
>Tuesday ... my options are going to be somewhat more limited
>it seems. (My landlord's insurance might cover my stuff -- he
>thinks so but I won't feel reassured until _they_ say so -- but
>even if that's the case, it won't happen instantly.)
