Finally figured out what I (I, I, I, ME, I) want in a monopod. Of course
it's got to be one that's not to short. (That's obvious, to me.) But also,
finally, it should not be to tall either...
I need to find one that, combined with a mounted ball head, opens to 58-59".
That way, with the camera on it, I can just drop the flippin' legs quickly
to full extension without fiddling with up/down up/down minor adjustments.
Just fully drop the legs and the camera then will automatically be at my
standing eye level...
If I ever need to shoot over the heads of a crowd (a rare occurrence for me)
I figure I can just tuck the bottom of the pod (WITH THAT DAMN SPIKE
RETRACTED!) into the top of my pants, behind my belt buckle... (And use the
cable release.)
