Ok, this is where a photo might come in handy.  :)  I don't know what else
it could be except a basic step-up ring.  If one end had a bayonet mount
it might be a K-mount adapter of some sort, but if both ends are screwy
(so to speak), then the only thing I can think of is the 37-49mm adapter
to use Asahiflex lenses on M42 bodies.  If it is that, please let me know,
as I'd love to buy if off you!  :)  Otherwise, I'd say it's just a
stepping ring, nothing fancy.
