as Shel pointed out it's an optical near-focusing device for the
Hektor or Summar 5cm lenses. According to the Leica Accessory Guide I
have a reproduction ratio scale was added in 1939 and SUMMITAR 5cm and
2 other lens names engraved on the lens mount. It is essentially a
short extension tube that that fits between the camera and the lens,
and has a helical focusing mount which couples with the rangefinder.
The 7th edition (1997) of the Leica International Price Guide puts its
value at about $50.00 in condition showing slight signs of use. Its
rarity is classed as 'slightly unusual', meaning if you were
specifically looking for one it would take about 2 weeks to find it.
My experience of the price guide is that it is now slightly
undervaluing things (there is a new edition which I don't have). If
you put it on eBay you could try a reserve of about $70.00 and see
what happens. Check to see what they've gone for on eBay before, or
ask the Leica list.
Hope that helps,
Bob
