Some of you may remember (and/or care) that I had problems with the AF on my
Tokina 80-200 f/2.8 AT-X Pro on the PZ1p. I thought I had fixed the problem
with a little Cramolyn on the lens contacts, but it wasn't gone. I
subsequently bought a second PZ1p, so I could go on jobs with 2 identical
bodies, and the same problem happened on it.

I sent it off to Tokina, who have looked at it but can't make it fail with
their bodies. They have ordered a PZ1p to try it with, but that body isn't
due in for a while. Instead of making me wait, they're just sending me a
new lens on the faith that I wouldn't take the trouble of sending it back to
California without good reason..

Whether this solves the problem or not, I have to say I am impressed with
THK's (the US Tokina distributor) service. They were friendly and helpful,
and have taken my word about the lens' defect rather than make me wait until
they could test it out.

When I asked that they send it by overnight so I could take it on a job this
weekend, and that they could charge my card for the difference for the
frieght over regular shipping, they said, "We'll split the difference with
you."

There may be people who think this is exactly what a business should do, but
it seems to me that few businesses WOULD do it. I am quite impressed. I f
anyone wants to know what the outcome is (ie. whether the lens now works on
the Z), I will post to the list when it comes back.

Cheers,

Mike
