This is interesting Ed, are there any common physical attributes between the
lenses that seem to respond similarly? Weight, floating elements, focus
travel?
Thanks to Peter for the testing, I have no doubt about your findings, I made
some interesting observations whilst performing lens tests along the same
lines. I found that even removing my hand from under the focus ring on a
manual focus lens slightly affected focus (particularly prevalent on lenses like
the A100f2.8 macro) even though the lens/camera under test was set on a
very heavy tripod. I ended up adjusting focus with my two fingers like pincers
pushed into the side of the lens.
