No I didn't compare (because I don't have the shift lens :-)

However I did a fare share of perspective correction in Photoshop.

It is not difficult at all, and for me makes the 'shift' capability of the lens
more or less obsolete when the output needs to be digital anyway.
(Not a solution for slides, obviously)

You do need to keep the image size-ratio correct (hor/vert) and if possible
have more pixels available than needed for the end-result.
Image manipulation like this DOES have a negative effect on image quality!

Also, for extreme correction, the DOF in the original image might be a problem.
Extreme correction would be a problem for a shift lens too, because of the limited 
shift range.

The 'tilt' capability cannot be replaced by Photoshop though, wich is why I am 
looking at the Zorkendorfer solution, mostly for tabletop and landscape subjects.
