I have never used the -7 but have a -5n and have had PZ-1 & -1p cameras and have never noticed a big difference in AF speed when the same lens is used on the same type subjects. I prefer the control layout and features of the -5n best. I think the big question is how much will you be using the various program settings. If you shoot and want lots of manual control and a traditional layout then go with the -5n. If you want to shoot mainly in the program modes and prefer buttons over dials then go with the -7. For faster/better AF under less than perfect conditions, go with the fastest glass you can afford (or are willing buy/carry). The speed of the lens and the available light always seem to affect the AF speed more than the differences between bodies. JeffW. - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List.
