It is the same curse. Never goes away -- even when you "quit." I was a
novice in the late fifties and then "gave it up" so to speak. However,
although my transmitter went to a school club, the "57 Hammarlund
receiver still gets fired up now and then (great tube equipment), CQ
magazine subscription still in force, and more nonamateur com gear has
passed through "'here" then I'll ever admit to. An associate who
operates mostly 2 meters recently gave me set of West's primers to
encourage me, but I have yet to commit the time to do what I should have
done years ago. In short, like with the Pentax "hobby," no matter how
many times you lay it down, my experience has been that THERE IS NO CURE
-- even for light exposure. But, they are sure a lot of fun. I recently
made up some copies of pictures I took from way, way, way back there for a
reunion The oldest were shot with a Hawkeye in the fifth grade. What
memories -- great fun at the reunion too.
