As has been pointed out, it's a term of derision.
It's insulting to those of us who like to use such cameras, but
who are equally capable of working with a fully manual camera.

I'd prefer it if people didn't find it necessary to belittle the
camera choices of others, but what else do you expect when even
uttering the word 'Canon' or 'Nikon' is enough to garner insults?
