My Epson 1200 photo is 1200X1200 optical dpi and does a good enough job with
negatives that I can't tell a quality difference between the negative scans
and the print scans. It also has an adaptor that will let it scan 4X5's
although I am not sure of the quality of the scans. No 645n to play with :(

My rinky-dink Hewlett-Packard 3400C model I use for proofing costs $129 and
has 1200 x 1200dpi resolution, or is its resolution uncommon?
