Hi Dosk, no real reason to avoid M-lenses or A-lenses on a ZX5n. I used to
own Pentax-A 28/2.0 and Tamron 90/2.5 (both stolen) as well as a Tamron
200/3.5 which I still own, all MF. I found they work VERY well with a
MZ-5n. I asked ages ago about Tamron adaptall K and KA mounts and got the
view the KA are quirky and I would risk the inyards of my camera with
them. Hence I used the Tamron lenses with a K-adaptall, which gives them a
functionallity of a M or K lens.
I perceive the finder of the MZ-5n to be easy to focus with. To me it
works better then the split image range finder of my old Minolta MF. When
I looked at that recently after I got my Pentax stolen, I desided I could
not live with that. I focus it on the screen, the focus confirmation by
the AF is useless IMHO (slow and painful).
With a K or M lens on the MZ-5n you get a nice and small aperture priority
and full manual camera with center weight and spot exporsure meter. The
camera is easy to control, offers build in autowinding and TTL
flashcontrol.
Considering the difference in price between M and the latest FA lenses,
the M135/3.5 is close to the top of my wish list, if I run across a good
example for the right price, as a inexpensive kickstart to build up my
equipment agin.
The A-lens offers multipattern measurement, time priority and program mode
in addition.
Ok, quite long. My recommendation: Go for the MZ-5n (ZX-5n in your
case) and the MF lenses. Apart from being an AF camera, this one is a nice
MF camera as well in my opinion. I know that some on this list have a
different view on the MZ-5n's finder, but I can't share their enthusiasm
for the ME-super. (I wear eyeglasses)
Hope that helps.
