I had the same problem on one of my MX's. I took off the bottom
plate and tightened the screw on the bottom of the take up spool
(it is reverse threaded). That seemed to fix the film advance.
Unfortunately, shortly thereafter, the light meter went flakey
and the shutter more or less stopped working.
