In my rather myopic view of the PDML, I see the following:

1. OK messages, i.e., Pentax messages. 'Nuf said.

2. OT messages. These are Off Topic messages that are about (or are at
least fairly closely related to) photography in general (and therefore are at
least somewhat relevant to the PDML). And, the occasional thread winding on
about the latest Canon or Nikon gizmo is not totally out of place here, I
guess. (Perhaps the Canon and Nikon lists are even more cluttered with Way
Off Topic messages than is the PDML, so that Canon and Nikon messages must
come here to be heard.)

3. OL messages. These are "contributions" to the PDML that have essentially
nothing to do with Pentax in specifics nor with photography in general, and
therefore, in my humble opinion, should be considered Off List messages. The
fact that there might sometimes be valid points made amongst the waves of
alt.pentax.nonphotography list messages dropped here does not change the
apparently unorthodox concept that the "P" in "PDML" should probably refer to
"Pentax", or at least to "Photography", but not to "Politics".

Well, having spouted my two f-stops worth, I feel ever so slightly better
now, and I suppose I should relinquish my soapbox to the next curmudgeon to
come along...
