I have not used the acc grip strap, but I figured that
it would greatly extend the time that it takes to
change a battery and seconds count as a journalist.
Besides my hands are not exactly that big so the grip
of the z1p handles very nicely for me.

Yes, light entering the vf will affect the exposure
reading. Pentax includes a vf cover with new z1ps.
