Down is where your legs point when standing. Up is above your head. All
animals legs point to the same microspot in the center of the earth. The
rest of the known universe resides above.
All references to "southern" or "northern" are arbitrary and defined by
man for the convenience of mapmakers and writers ('cause most men don't
need maps, and women just ask for directions).
However, the folks that live at the North and the South poles would like
to keep the current designations as recognized by a bunch of British and
French guys a long time ago, then foisted upon the rest of us so our
boats wouldn't collide in the dark on the high seas, so they do not have
to send out a gazillion change of address cards.
Now go to your room and think about it some more!
