Why not. Since I am researching them now for purchase "someday" <grin>.
1. Olympus C-5050Z. OK, I wanted a C-2020 but didn't think they had a big enough memory card to use in TIFF mode. The 5050 fixes that in spades having microdrive capability. It also has RAW mode now. All the manual over-rides and very good user reports. 35-105 zoom range, very fast lens. 2. Nikon Coolpix 5000. Unless it is as bulky as it looks in pictures. Firmware upgrades give the features that the Oly has + it has a 28-85 zoom range. Very few P&S digicams go down to 28. The one thing the Oly doesn't have an the Nikon does that I would like is the fully articulated LCD screen. 3. In addition to the above the Pentax 430 would make a nice pocket camera, and it uses a compact flash so you can store enough images to make it worth while. Beside, I have a fondness for things Pentax. 4. Ha, ha, ha... to violate your rules the EOS-1Ds w the 70-200/2.8 IS. + a short zoom, but if I had to pay for it I could get along with the new Kodak DCS-14n. I am pissed that they dropped the PC Card slot from the DCS-7x0 series just after I learned you can put a wireless network card in it and feed your images directly to the laptop an event photogs wet dream come true.
