Most manufacturers build excellent 50mm f1.4 lenses. They have to because it is the single focal length that most people stress. However, it is the complete lot that really matters and, on a whole, the Pentax prime lenses are unmatched IMHO.
Between the "A" and "F/FA", they are designed for different functions and the "A" will offer longer service because the build quality was sacrificed for A-F speed.
