A similar discussion on the topic of pro vs. amateur woodworking took place on one of the many woodworking discussion groups.

Someone said that if you really want to engage someone in the finest work, find a dedicated amateur. This is a fellow that does it for the love of the art and doesn't necessarily need to make his living at it.

A pro must have a finely tuned sense of "good enough" else he'll soon starve.
